Kansas Concealed Carry
This course is taught in accordance with the requirements set forth by the Kansas Attorney General and the Kansas legislature. It satisfies the minimum training necessary to obtain your state concealed carry permit. This class is 8+ hours in length and has both a written and practical test. You must bring the firearm you intend to qualify with (no derringers or single action revolvers, please) and 50 rounds of range ammo.
Practical Concealed Carry
This class expands on the basic state required concealed carry course and provides the student basic and intermediate techniques for self-defense with a handgun. It covers drawing your firearm safely and quickly from concealment, shooting quickly without sacrificing accuracy, rapid and efficient reloads, shooting with either hand, and shooting in low light conditions. This class is 2 hours in length. You will need to bring an appropriate self-defense handgun (preferrably 9mm or larger), at least 2 magazines or speed loaders, 100 rounds of jacketed range ammo, a quality, non-collapsing holster, suitable belt, and concealement garment (light jacket or vest with open front). It is also recommended that you bring a magazine or speed loader pouch.
Advanced Concealed Carry
This advanced class will further build on practical concealed carry. Students should have either attended practical concealed carry or exhibit an equivalent level of skill prior to taking this course. This class is 2 hours in length. You will improve your critical gun handling skills and learn advanced tactics such as clearing malfunctions, movement, extended range shooting, getting faster hits on target, maintaining focus, and engaging in simulated gun fights. You will need to bring an appropriate self-defense handgun (preferrably 9mm or larger), at least 2 magazines or speed loaders, 150 rounds of jacketed range ammo, a quality, non-collapsing holster, suitable belt, and concealement garment (light jacket or vest with open front). It is also recommended that you bring a magazine or speed loader pouch.
This course will teach you the basics of good pistol marksmanship. It lasts 2 hours. You will learn proper sight alignment and sight picture, trigger control and manipulation, grip, stance, and self-diagnosing problems. You will need to bring a handgun (semi-auto or revolver) and at least 150 rounds of range ammo.
Pistol 101 will give you a thorough overview of handgun safety, function, manipulation, maintenance, storage, and shooting fundamentals. This class is 3.5 hours long and includes 2 hours of range time. We provide both firearms and ammunition although you may bring your own firearm and 100 rounds of range ammo if you wish to practice with your own handgun.
Many people use shotguns for home defense. It is one of the most effective and versatile weapons available to the average private citizen. Unfortunately, it is also the least understood. This course runs 2+ hours and will teach you the fundamentals of using a shotgun for self-defense. You will learn shotgun prep, shooting techniques, ready positions, and ammunition management. Students must bring an appropriate pump or semi-automatic shotgun. We advise against double barrel shotguns and recommend 12 gauges. We also recommend a butt cuff or other ammo storage device.
